The
Interfaith Hospitality Network (I.H.N.)
takes in homeless families who apply and
who are screened through the I.H.N. administration.
Sr. Carmen, through Our Lady of Snows,
along with 10 other churches in the Reno-Sparks
community, provide sleeping arrangements
for these families every 11 weeks. She
has appointed two couples to be in charge
of the program at Snows, and is there
to guide, advise, or just be present for
support to the families and volunteers,
alike. During their week at Snows, volunteers
provide breakfast, lunch and dinner; and
clothing and shoes are made available
for those who need them. Other needs are
met, as well. The number of persons housed
for a given period of time is 14 or 4
families. Volunteers are always welcomed
in any of these ministries, and it is
a great way to respond to the Gospel call
to "take care of the poor".
Volunteers
are needed and appreciated to provide
food for breakfasts and lunches, to cook
and provide evening meals, to sleep over,
to help with set up and clean up, to provide
clothing and shoes in good condition for
adults as well as for children, to come
and spend time and share your presence.
Diapers are always needed, especially
larger sizes.
If
this sounds like a call from God for you,
then this is the place to be. |
