Joseph
DeRosa has been the Director of Music
Ministries at Our Lady of the Snows since
November, 1998. He was raised in Normal,
Illinois, with 4 older brothers and sisters.
Encouraged by his mother who taught piano,
he began playing piano at age 3, and later
picked up several other instruments. By
age 16, he had written over 100 songs
and compositions, and was touring as a
professional musician. He was a music
minister in his hometown Catholic church,
and in Prairie Village, Kansas. As a music
director, he has worked with underprivileged
inner-city kids, and physically challenged
kids. He began volunteering at Snows in
1996. Like his mother, Joseph has written
several pieces of music for Catholic liturgy,
many for Snows, for the annual Diocesan
conference, and for other local events. |
