I have an M.A. (Religious Education) from St. John's University, Collegeville, MN, and an M.A. (Adult Christian Comminity Development) from Regis University, Denver, CO, as well as having completed a four-year Scripture program through the archdiocese of Denver. I have worked for the church in Prince George, British Columbia; Wapato, Washington; and Evergreen, Colorado; before moving to Reno in 1998 to work at Our Lad of the Snows. I also taught for both the archdiocese of Denver and Regis University as an adult educator. I am currently working on my Doctor of Ministry degree from Catholic University in Washington, D.C..
My
ministry at this parish means that I supervise
the religious education (CRE) programs
for children, K-8th grade, involving about
45 volunteer catechists. This includes
offering catechist training for those
who want diocesan certification and the
sacraments programs for children of elementary
age. I also oversee the program during
9:30 Mass called Children's Liturgy
of the Word. Marcie Salkowski (Director of Youth Ministry) and I direct the Confirmation program together. For adults I facilitate Bible Studies on Monday evenings and Thursday afternoons. And, with a team of seven, I direct the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) for adults becoming Catholic or Catholic adults who need First Communion or Confirmation.
