I'm
originally from Chicago, Illinois. My
family consists of my husband Frank who
is a retired Washoe County detective,
and three adult children, Cathy, Franko,
and Christine, all of whom graduated from
Our Lady of the Snows School.
Pope John Paul ll played a hand in my
career change from banking to ministry
when he announced World Youth Day would
be in Denver in 1993. Our family was eager
to attend and we planned on escorting
our daughter Christine and a few of her
friends to this event. Instead, we ended
up on a bus full of teens and chaperones.
An unexpected result was to experience
the hunger and response of teens to the
gospel. After hosting a few reunions for
this group, we were asked to host Young
Life in our home, and quickly realized
these teens were committed to the fun
but also to the spiritual pursuit it provided.
Not wanting to provide a "mom &
pop" youth group, I began formal
education in ministry. I attended a course
of studies at Regis University in Denver
for three summers with an emphasis on
Christian Community Development, I'm a
graduate of the three year Genesis Lay
Ministry Formation Program, and completed
the Practicum from the Institute of Youth
Ministry Studies offered through Young
Life and Fuller Seminary. My previous
experience has been as the Pastoral Advisor
at the Newman Center at U.N.R., and Assistant
Diocesan Director of Youth Ministry to
Fr. Frank Murphy.
I
am privileged to work with 28 trained
young adults who are leaders in junior
high and senior high ministries. Many
have come through the ranks and are returning
the blessing they received.
Our
logo, Got Life? comes from John 10:10
.....I came that they may have life, and
have it more abundantly.
Our mission statement is "To incarnationally
present the person of Jesus Christ, the
gospel, and the Catholic faith to teens
in ways they can understand, relate to,
and respond. |
